Ontario Real Estate Company Directory

Americans probably know Ontario more than other Canadian provinces. It is home of Niagara Falls, a popular honeymoon and tourist destination, and many visitor to and residents of Detroit can cross a bridge and visit Windsor for an afternoon or evening of gambling.

Ontario has the largest economy in Canada. While manufacturing is important, the service sector is what drives the economy. Tourism provides jobs for thousands of people in every city, making Ontario a thriving province. Inflation is low but the unemployment rate is slightly higher than in other provinces at 8.5%. Minimum wage is set at $10.25 per hour; the average income of a permanent resident is $92,453 and an immigrant can average $66,377.

Although Ontario is the most popular province in Canada with 13 million residents, it has a low rate of crime. Housing is plentiful and varied; whether you’re looking for a one bedroom apartment, another type of rental or a home to buy you will most likely find something that you love and can afford.

Ontario leads other Canadian provinces in manufacturing, claiming 52% of all shipments in 2004. Its main exports are appliances, electrical machinery and equipment, vehicle parts and accessories and plastic. Ontario is also heavily invested in the manufacture of solar panels and other renewable energy projects.

Whether you prefer the hustle and bustle of a big city or feel more at home in a small town, Ontario has something for everyone. Toronto is the most populous city, home to about 2.5 million people. Ottawa has over 800,000 people, Mississauga about 650,000 and there are seven other larger cities with over 200,000 residents. These ten cities have many employment opportunities and chances for career advancements as well as plentiful, affordable housing and good schools.

You won’t be at a loss for things to do wherever you live in Ontario. You can canoe or kayak on one of the beautiful national parks, enjoy water sports, play golf on public courses or join a private club, and enjoy the many bike paths scattered throughout the parks of the cities. There are art galleries, symphonies, cultural festivals, museums for both adults and children and many amusement parks. Shoppers won’t be bored with all the variety of department stores and boutiques.

Ontario has excellent health care and educational systems. It’s a great place for singles, couples and families.
